Licence

Your key, in the right place.

After the purchase your key sits in your customer account under “My WebDonkey licences”. Here you see where it goes in WebDonkey, WebDonkey Editor and WebDonkey Pages, and how add-ons join your licence.

Where the key goes

Three apps, one customer account. Each app has its own place for the key.

WebDonkey

Where

  1. Settings
  2. General
  3. License

“Settings” is at the bottom of the left sidebar.

Which key

Your WebDonkey Premium key.

It also unlocks the SEO package and the maintenance package once they are assigned to your licence.

  3. About
  4. License

Or press ⌘, in the Editor.

Which key

The same WebDonkey Premium key. The Editor has no licence of its own.

Only without WebDonkey on this Mac. With WebDonkey installed, the Editor uses its licence and you activate in WebDonkey.

Or click the licence status in the status bar at the bottom.

Which key

Your Pages key, or your WebDonkey key once Pages is coupled to it.

Without a licence Pages runs as Free with one website.

Show the steps

Activate WebDonkey

After the purchase your key sits in your customer account. Four steps and Premium is running, the app needs the internet once for this, not permanently afterwards.

The licence covers one installation active at a time. You may install WebDonkey on several Macs, the seat travels with you: quit the app on the old machine and the new one is unlocked at once. If a machine stays quiet for about 15 minutes, the seat is taken over automatically.

Activate WebDonkey Editor

The Editor has no licence of its own, its Premium features come with your WebDonkey Premium key. Without WebDonkey on your Mac you enter that key in the Editor itself, in four steps.

If WebDonkey is installed on this Mac, the Editor uses its licence by itself and shows no “License” section: you activate in WebDonkey. If that WebDonkey is out of date, the Editor runs without Premium and asks you to update WebDonkey. The Editor takes the same seat as WebDonkey. Install WebDonkey later and it takes over your key (if it has none yet), the theme and the server connections once.

Activate WebDonkey Pages

After the purchase your Pages key sits in your customer account under “My WebDonkey licences”. Four steps and your plan is unlocked in the app.

If you have coupled your Pages licence to a WebDonkey licence in your customer account, your WebDonkey key works here just the same. Both apps then share one seat, and on the same Mac they count as one device. If Pages is connected to a running WebDonkey that holds a different key, Pages offers to take it over. If a key has no Pages plan in it, Pages says so and runs as Free.

Add-ons

Add packages to your licence

The SEO package and the maintenance package belong to your WebDonkey licence, Pages can be coupled to it. Then everything runs on one key.

  1. 1

    Buy it in the shop

With the customer account your licence is in. What you can buy depends on the account type: the maintenance package, Pages Business, Studio, Agency and the Pages add-on are for business accounts, Pages Personal is for personal accounts.

  2. 2

    Often the shop assigns it

Buy the SEO or maintenance package together with Premium, or have exactly one licence it fits, and the shop assigns it automatically. A Pages licence is never coupled automatically.

  3. 3

Otherwise assign it in your account

Open “My WebDonkey licences”. Under “Not assigned yet” pick the licence at “Assign to” and click “Assign”. Until then your account and the app show a notice. A Pages licence you couple on its own card with “Couple to a WebDonkey license”.

  4. 4

    Done: your key stays

You need no new key. The key you already use unlocks what is assigned to its licence, and after coupling your WebDonkey key opens Pages too.

What goes where

Add-on

SEO package

  • Unlocks the SEO audits and the accessibility check in WebDonkey. A monthly subscription.
  • One SEO package per licence. If the match is clear, the shop assigns it, otherwise you do in your account.
  • If the Premium licence ends and the SEO package runs longer, it becomes a licence of its own with a new key: you assign it to a running Premium licence or cancel it. Until then it unlocks nothing but is still charged; nothing is refunded. After a withdrawal, full refund, chargeback or termination for good cause it ends as well. If you as a consumer withdraw from the contract for the Premium licence, you are no longer bound by the SEO package either and get back what you paid for it, even if you bought it in a different order.

Add-on

Maintenance package

  • For business accounts. It belongs to a WebDonkey Premium licence, Premium itself is not included.
  • One maintenance package per licence. If the match is clear, the shop assigns it, otherwise you do in your account.
  • If the Premium licence ends and the maintenance package runs longer, it becomes a licence of its own with a new key: you assign it to a running Premium licence or cancel it. Add-on with 10 more websites

Only with a maintenance package. You assign it to the WebDonkey licence that carries the package. If the package ends and the add-on runs longer, it becomes a licence of its own that you assign to a running maintenance package or cancel; nothing is refunded. After a full refund, chargeback or termination for good cause it ends as well.

WebDonkey Pages

  • Runs without WebDonkey too and comes with a key of its own.
  • In your account you couple it to a WebDonkey licence, never automatically. Then your WebDonkey key works in Pages too, and the Pages key keeps working.
  • Both apps then share one seat, on the same Mac they count as one device. Each licence keeps its term and subscription, and you can undo the coupling in your account.

Pages add-on with 5 more websites

Only with Business, Studio or Agency, for business accounts. You assign it to your Pages plan, or to the WebDonkey licence if Pages is coupled to one. If the plan ends and the add-on runs longer, it becomes a licence of its own that you assign to a running Business, Studio or Agency plan or cancel; nothing is refunded. After a full refund, chargeback or termination for good cause it ends as well.

Result of an automatic check. It does not replace a full audit under BITV 2.0 / EN 301 549.

Good to know

  • Every assignment and every release counts: each licence allows three changes in 30 days.
  • Each licence takes one SEO package, one Pages licence and one maintenance package. More websites come with add-ons.
  • In a business account the buyer couples. A licence shared with staff takes its coupled products along.
  • Reactivate an expired WebDonkey subscription and the new licence gets the same key as before. Coupled licences and your device come along.
  • You cancel every subscription on its own. If the licence or plan an add-on depends on ends and the add-on runs longer, it becomes a licence of its own with a new key; it only unlocks anything again once you assign it to a matching licence, and it continues until you cancel it. After a withdrawal, full refund, chargeback or termination for good cause it ends as well.

Questions about licences

How does the Premium licence work?

Premium is a subscription with a travelling seat. The key appears in your customer account after purchase and is activated in the app under Settings. One seat, any number of Macs: the licence is active wherever you are working. Quit the app on one machine and the other is free right away. Premium stays active without internet until the end of the paid period, and Free keeps getting every stable update.

How do I get the SEO package, and how do I assign it to a licence?

SEO audits come with the SEO package, not with Free or Premium. The package is a monthly subscription and always belongs to a licence with WebDonkey Premium. If you buy it together with Premium, or you have exactly one licence it fits, we assign it automatically. Otherwise you assign it in your customer account under “My WebDonkey licences” to the licence it should belong to. Until then, your account and the app show a notice. After that your usual key unlocks SEO; you do not need a new one. You can change the assignment, at most three times in 30 days. If the Premium licence ends and the SEO package runs longer, it becomes a licence of its own with a new key: you assign it to a running Premium licence or cancel it.

Can I use Pages and WebDonkey with one key?

Yes. A Pages licence comes with a key of its own. In your customer account under “My WebDonkey licences” you couple it to one of your WebDonkey licences. From then on your WebDonkey key works in Pages too, and the Pages key keeps working. Both apps then share one seat; on the same Mac they count as one device. Each licence keeps its own term and subscription. Coupling never happens automatically, and you can undo it in your account. Coupling and undoing count towards the same limit of three changes in 30 days. In a company account the buyer couples; a licence shared with staff takes its coupled products along.

What is the maintenance package, and how do I book it?

With the maintenance package you look after client websites from inside WebDonkey: staging, local test copies, taking changes to live one by one, updates, vulnerabilities, checksums, visual comparisons, flow tests, a monthly report and a status page. It is for business accounts, with 10, 30 or 100 websites, monthly or yearly, and a year costs ten monthly payments. Add-ons bring 10 more websites each, and for more than 150 websites we make you an offer of your own. The package always belongs to a licence with WebDonkey Premium; Premium itself is not included. If you buy it together with Premium or have exactly one suitable licence, we assign it automatically. Otherwise you assign it in your account under “My WebDonkey licences”. When the Premium licence ends, the maintenance package and any add-ons that run longer become licences of their own with a new key: you assign them again or cancel them. Until then they unlock nothing but are still charged; nothing is refunded. After a full refund, chargeback or termination for good cause they end as well.

Can a company pass licences on to its staff?

Yes, with a company account (account type “commercial”, chosen when you register). Under Team in your customer account you invite staff by email and share each licence with exactly one person. That person needs their own customer account with exactly that address and accepts the invitation. You keep managing purchase, subscription, key and device. If you withdraw a share or someone leaves the team, the licence gets a new key and the previous device is signed out. Need several licences? Simply buy them in the quantity you need.
